Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.


The following are terms of a legal agreement between you and Consumertec. By accessing, browsing and/or using anything on this site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms below and to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with these terms, don’t use this site.

1. Authorisation

The customer authorises Consumertec to carry out an evaluation of the machine sent to determine the nature of the damage and provide an estimate of repair cost and timing.

The customer authorises Consumertec and employees, to receive and transport the PC/Laptop to and from our office/workshop.

Any PC/Laptop left with Consumertec unclaimed for 90 days, will be disposed of or resold. At which time, Consumertec reserves the right and shall have no liability to the customer or any third party

2. Limited Liability

Consumertec shall not be liable for any claims regarding the physical functioning of the PC/Laptop or the condition or existence of data on storage media supplied before, during or after service.

In no event will Consumertec be liable for any damage to the PC/Laptop, loss of data, loss of revenue or profits, however caused, before, during or after service.

3. Confidentiality

Consumertec agrees not to disclose any and all information or data files supplied with, stored on, or recovered from customers PC/Laptop except to employees of Consumertec subject to confidentiality agreements or as required by law.

4. Payment

Payment is due in full upon receipt of invoice/receipt, prior to release of the repaired PC/Laptop when picked up.

We accept Credit & Debit Cards, Cash and Bank Transfer.

5. Warranty

There is an 30 days warranty on PC’s/Laptops that Consumertec has repaired.

6. Fees

We charge a diagnostic fee of £25 which is deducted off the final repair if we carry out the repair.

Privacy

1. “Personal Data” is any data that identifies you. We will deal with your Personal Data in compliance with the current UK data protection legislation.

2. Personal Data

2.1 Personal Data is collected, processed and used by Consumertec in the course of providing our Service to you and the other purposes mentioned below. The use of information will remain under the control of Consumertec. We will never pass your data onto any third party.

2.2 We collect your name, email and phone number(with your permission by checking the check box confirming you have read and agree to Consumertec Terms & Conditions and Consumertec Privacy Policy. We do not store any data in a database when our contact form/estimation/quote form or ask a question form is filled out and emailed to us.

3. Only if you have given us permission will we send emails to you about new products and services which we consider may be of interest to you.

4. Cookies

4.1 Consumertec may make use of “cookies”. A cookie is a small text file which is placed on your hard disk. Cookies contain information about you and your chosen preferences. For example, it might contain a record of which pages within the Consumertec website you visited, to help us customise the website for you the next time you visit.

4.2 Only the information that you provide, or the choices you make, while visiting the Consumertec website can be stored in a cookie. For example, the Consumertec website cannot determine your email address unless you choose to type it. Allowing Consumertec to create a cookie does not give Consumertec access to the rest of your computer and only Consumertec can read it.

4.3 Consumertec will only use the cookies created to enhance your experience. What this means is that when you use the site Consumertec will be able to keep certain settings for you for when you return.

5. Google Analytics

5.1 This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”).

5.2 Google Analytics uses cookies, to help the website analyse how users use the site.

5.3 The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.

5.4 Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage.

5.5 Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. 5.6 Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.

5.7 You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

5.8 By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

6. Data Backup/Recovery

6.1 If we need to backup any data recovered from a failing/failed hard drive or backup any data before reinstalling Windows 7 or 10 operating system, we store your name and data such as documents/photos/videos and music on our external hard drive and as soon as the job is complete, we securely remove your name and data backed up from our external hard drive.
